In 2011, A ghost writer was hired to work on Anh Do's bestselling memoir, The Happiest Refugee, which achieved three awards at the Australian Book Industry Awards. But publishers said Anh's final book had not resembled to the original text handed to them by the ghost writer. The ghost writer was Michael Visontay, former editor of the Sydney Morning Herald which had interviewed Anh Do to help him write the memoir as Anh had trouble writing the autobiography himself since English is not his strongest point of education. The finished product of Anh's Memoir was nothing alike the manuscript and transcript that was given to him. The book had won Anh: 2011 Independent Booksellers of the year, Joint winner of the Biography of the year, 2011 Best Newcomer, 2011 Book of the Year.
